Disneyland - Day 1 of 365

Woo hoo!!!
I have been really excited since Valentine's Day because Bryce surprised me with Disneyland passes. He is such a punk really - I bugged him about going to Disneyland about 2 months ago and it seems like whenever there was a perfect day to go he would say no and put it off like he really never wanted to go to Disneyland ever again! So I was getting frustrated that he wouldn't take us...little did I know he was planning to get us passes for Vday!
(Which honestly surprised me I almost peed myself - Bryce is usually not a huge planner and thinker when it comes to gift giving!!) haha which is somewhat my fault actually because I've always told him I like to shop for myself!

So anyways, our neighbor has Dland passes too so Melia and I went with them. Bryce had to miss out on all the fun becuase he had school but we are planning on going with him next week.

It's really nice to know that you don't have to do absolutely everything in one day at the park. We actually relaxed and stood in line for photo op's with characters which is always been a huge time orientated no no in the past. It was fun to spend time with Melia in Fantastyland and do all the kid rides. She really loved the teacups and carousel, but she was so brave and did Pirate's (twice!) and Haunted Mansion. I think she did get a little freaked on that ride, she covered her eyes when the zombies popped out of the gravestones! She didn't want to look at the ghosts in our car either but I asked her if she had fun and she gave a little yes nod but I wasn't so convinced ;)
My favorite by far is Space Mountain and Matterhorn...and of course The Tiki Room. I haven't watched that show for the last 15 years so I forgot how cool it was.
The Tiki Room

Melia loved playing in Minnie's house in Toon Town

Fun on the carousel

Melia was in absolute heaven when she got to take these pics with Tigger and Eyore.

Our FUN Disney date

Melia ran up to tinkerbell when she saw her and gave her the biggest hug
It was sooo cute

Telling a story to Rosetta (the newest Pixie Hollow cast member)

I would go everyday if I could, just to see Melia's funny expressions over and over again. It's an entire new world that she is discovering and it really is priceless to watch her meet the charactures she's seen on a movie or in a book.
It really brings the magic back into everything for me being able to watch Melia's imagination grow. Ah I am such a sappy mom.

Silly Boys - Dirt is for Girls Too!!

Melia went outside and decided she wanted to help Bryce move some dirt around the backyard. At first she was helping fill up the wheelbarrow but then she figured it was much more fun to dump the dirt out of the wheelbarrow while Bryce was trying to fill it up.

I guess she got tired from all the hard work and decided to lay down...in the dirt.

My Ultimate Frienemy

Everyone has a favorite chocolate chip recipe...and this is mine. They are my absolute fav because they are very moist and chewy (and they stay that way!) as chocolate chip cookies should be and they don't go flat after you cool them. Let me know what you think if you happen to whip these little babies up. Happy Baking!

1 stick (1/2 C) plus 5 Tbsp. butter (room temp.)
3 Tbsp butter flavored Crisco (room temp.)
1 1/8 C. brown sugar
1/2 C sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 egg plus 1 egg white
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp baking powder
Dash of salt
1 1/2 C chocolate chips (more or less depending on how much you prefer)
*(Ive tried different chips and the Ghirardelli semi sweet ones taste the BEST!)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Beat the butter, and Crisco, both sugars, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs and beat for about a minute. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt with a large spoon. Fold in chips. Spoon onto cookie sheets and bake for 6-7 minutes. The cookies will not look entirely done in the middle but take them out anyways! Cool and serve

Snow Day!

Since we are on an inverted, confusing and backwards schedule, our weekend is the opposite of everyone else's. So today being our Saturday, and before Bryce had to go to school and work, we ran up to Oak Glen where they still had about a foot of snow! It's nice to have it so close by - I don't even think we were driving 5 minutes before we started seeing snow.

Living away from snow most of my life I am not too terribly fond of the stuff. Its just the facts folks - it's cold, wet and miserable. I have never even been snow boarding or skiing because I have such a low cold tolerance. I secretly think I was born as the first cold blooded human ever.

Seriously!

But I am willing to sacrifice all of that for my fam...and the sun was shining so it wasn't tooo bad after all ;) And I didn't think Melia was really going to like it (when it snowed at our house in Dec. she HATED it! Ha!) But she totally had the time of her life. She mostly just sat and ate snow but we took her down the hill a couple of times. We broke down and bought a snow disk for her because we thought it would be faster and fun(ner). OK I'll confess - we were being ghetto and we brought our boogie boards! lol

So here we are on the way up the hill

And this is Bryce and Melia's first run

And this is Melia's first snow angel...and Bryce throwing a snow ball at me

This is the snow man Bruce made with his bare manly hands...
(that's one of the things we didn't have were snow gloves)

This is when Bryce was about to run in the picture but Melia whacked the poor guys head off...

But don't worry...today wasn't Frosty's day to die
Yes this is me...actually enjoying the snow! he he

After we were done playing, and we were only done because none of us had snow pants...or snow shoes and we were soaking wet (I guess we are not too prepared for the snow) we had lunch at Apple Annie's which is a really cute bumpkin restaurant up there.

We had our lunch and I was sooo looking forward to getting their apple crumb pie to go. So we got it and paid for it all and left. I was not even a foot out of the door when the container flew from out of my hands and landed all over the floor in front of me. Oh I wanted to cry! That emotion came right after I almost took a picture of it on the ground...( now that's true blogging spirit right there!)I was ALMOST tempted to save the pieces that didn't touch the ground...OK not really but that's how good it is. I will have to make a return trip soon just to be able to sit down and eat my dang pie!!

Moral of my story: Snow is FUN!

FYI : Butt = Book

Melia cracks me up everyday when she brings me books to read because she calls them butts. I taught her the word "bum" for her bottom but somehow she connected the word "butt" and so that is what she calls her bottom now. And apparently it goes the same for her books. :]

Also I am in the process of starting to potty train Melia. It is a slooow and frusterating process but I think we are both getting the hang of it. There is about a 50% chance that she will still go in her diaper but the other half of the time she will start to hold herself and we'll make it to the toilet on time.

Actually I have NO idea what I am doing...

but it seems to be alot easier than I thought it was going to be. She has been suprising me and telling me she has to go even when we aren't at home. So we go to the nearset toilet and I just kinda hold her up so she doesn't fall in...is that weird??

So if you have any ideas or advice please feel free to advise!
But I do plan on teaching her the potty dance!
LOL this video is so funny!

I did IT!

I finally broke away away from the gosh awful bonds of blondness that had been holding my hair captive for the last 3 years! Its actually really red but you cant really tell from this pic.
Oh yeah ... Bryce doesn't even know it yet either! Haha I cant wait until he wakes up!

Isn't the phrase "Auburns have the most fun"??!! ;)

I'm Baaa-ack!!

Oh snap! Allison got her camera back...did you miss me??? I like to think you did so we'll just go with it. Haha. I swear it has been an ETERNITY since I had shipped it off to be fixed.
I think I've grown a couple of inches since I've looked into that 2.7 inch LCD screen. So you can imagine how excited I was when I got a call from Best Buy today saying it was here again.

So lets raise the roof...

...because I am MEGA excited!!

Thank goodness most of the month of January was slow so I don't think I missed anything too important...although I did read a GREAT book...Oh and I am probably sure you may of already heard of this author before ;) So if you haven't read The Host yet...stop asking questions and just go buy it already. Just like she changed our perspective on vampires, she has done it again with creatures that are from outta this world.

Oh and did you know within the last 30 days of having no camera, I became a rock goddess? That's right just within 4 half hour guitar lessons I know how to fluently read sheet music, tabs and I memorized just about every song ever thought of.

What you dont believe me??

Good because it looks like in the last 30 days I've became an impulsive liar too! Ha ha just kidding guys! I did learn my first song though. I'll have to post it one of these days...just dont laugh too hard when you get to see it. Im really trying my best ;)

I also had to clean my guitar off after taking this picture...It is covered in fingerprints!

So all joking aside - I am glad to be back on board once again!
